Annual Conference
of the Philosophical Society of Southern Africa

16-18 January 2008
This annual conference of the Philosophical Society of Southern Africa will be hosted by the Department of Philosophy at the University of Pretoria, South Africa from 16-18 January 2008 – in the year of the University’s centenary celebrations.
Two eminent keynote speakers have been invited to the conference: Prof. David Farrell Krell of DePaul University, and Prof. Rudi Visker of K.U. Leuven.

The conference has no theme, and papers in all areas of philosophy are welcome. Abstracts of no more than 200 words should reach the conference organisers by September 30 2007. Conference registration and the submission of abstracts should be concluded via this website.

REGISTRATION
Please note that all accommodation arrangements are to be made by delegates themselves. Transport to and from the airport should also be arranged by the delegates themselves.
The South African Journal of Philosophy will be dedicating an issue (probably the second number of 2008) to selected proceedings of the PSSA conference. People intending to present at the conference who would like their papers to be considered should submit draft papers of no more than 6000 words in length to David Spurrett (spurrett@ukzn.ac.za) indicating that the submission is intended for the PSSA proceedings volume. The deadline for submissions for this volume is also 30 September 2007. If you have other enquiries regarding the proceedings volume please contact David Spurrett rather than the conference organisers.

- The conference fee for the PSSA 2008 is: 500 ZAR / 80 USD / 55 EUR / 40 GBP. This fee includes all conference materials, as well as lunches (16, 17 and 18 January), teas and 2 dinners (16 & 17 January).
- Fulltime students who can provide proof of current registration pay only R150. Proof of registration should be faxed to +27-12-4202350 for the attention of the PSSA 2008 Conference Secretariat after registration has been completed electronically.

- All information should be typed in upper and lower case (e.g. William Smith).
- Your information will be forwarded to the conference organisers. You should receive a confirmation email within 48 hours of submission.
- Confirmation of papers accepted for the conference will take place by 3 December 2007. If you require this information at an earlier date, please indicate this where appropriate on the online form.
